NO. 17 TENNIS VOLS FALL TO NO. 18 OHIO STATE

Columbus, Ohio - The Tennessee men's tennis team dropped a tough 5-2 decision to the Ohio State Buckeyes Sunday at the Stickney Tennis Center to fall to 1-1 on the season.
"We ran into a very tough Ohio State team today," head men's tennis coach Chris Mahony said. "Ohio State played a great match from top to bottom and simply outplayed us at this point in the season. We need to get back out on the practice court and make some improvements and play hard next weekend."
Sophomore Bobby Cameron provided a highlight for UT defeating Ohio State's No. 1 singles player Devin Mullings, ranked 56th in the singles rankings, 7-6, 6-2.
Fellow sophomore Kaden Hensel won in a super tie-breaker at the No. 6 singles position 6-3,2-6,1-0 over Dennis Mertens for UT's other point.
Adam Hubble making his dual-match debut for the Big Orange fell to Ross Wilson 6-3,6-3 at the No. 5 position. Fellow freshman Derek Stephens lost his first match as a Vol as he dropped a 6-1, 6-2 decision to Bryan Koniecko at the No. 2 slot.
Senior David Baxendine playing in his first match in the spring season lost in three sets to No. 37 Chris Klingemann 6-3,6-7,6-0. Junior Kiril Tcheveniachki fell to Steven Moneke at the No. 3 singles position 6-1,6-4.
Ohio State swept all three doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead. Ohio State's No. 1 tandem and second ranked nationally duo of Scott Green and Ross Wilson defeated UT's Hensel and Ben Rogers 8-2.
The Big Orange return home for next weekend's home opener versus ETSU Saturday at 1 p.m. All matches at the Goodfriend Indoor Tennis Center are free and open to the public.
