A pair of former Tennessee football players attempt to improve their stock for professional football while bringing to a close three excellent collegiate playing careers during all-star games Saturday.
Defensive end Jason Hall heads to San Antonio's Alamodome for the 81st East-West Shrine Game, set for 4 p.m. Eastern time on ESPN2. At 7 p.m. Eastern on ESPN, Omar Gaither will be among the participants in the 60th Hula Bowl from Aloha Stadium in Honolulu.
Hall made 2005 his best season. The Marietta, Ga., product had a late-season streak of five consecutive games with at least one sack and finished with seven sacks and 13 tackles for loss to rank among the SEC leaders in both categories.
Hall is slated to play for the east squad, coached by Arkansas' Houston Nutt.
Gaither made 210 tackles in his four-year career, finishing in the top three on the team each of his last two seasons. The Charlotte, N.C., linebacker led the conference in 2005 with four forced fumbles and his 18 tackles in the 2004 SEC Championship Game were the most by a Vol in a regulation contest since 1991.
Gaither is targeted for the east squad, coached by Auburn's Tommy Tuberville.
