ALEXIS HORNBUCKLE NAMED LADY VOL ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Knoxville, Tenn. - Tennessee Lady Vol guard Alexis Hornbuckle was named Lady Vol Athlete of the Week on Monday after leading her team past No. 22 Temple and No. 12 Notre Dame last week. In those two games, Hornbuckle averaged 9.5 ppg, 7.0 rpg and 4.0 spg to keep the Lady Vols undefeated at 12-0.
Hornbuckle scored four points, grabbed six rebounds, pocketed three steals and dished two assists against the Owls. The Charleston, W.Va., native also carried the Lady Vols to a 62-51 victory at Notre Dame. She was the only Lady Vol to score in double figures (15), and she led the team in assists (four), steals (five) and was third in rebounds (eight). The occurrence marked Hornbuckle.s sixth double-digit scoring contest of the campaign.
The sophomore is one of just three Lady Vols to start every game this season. She is third on the team in scoring (10.2 ppg), second in rebounding (5.3 rpg) and leads the squad with 38 assists this season.
