KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - A pair of University of Tennessee volleyball signees have earned impressive high school honors. Outside hitter Kylie Marshall (Puyallup, Wash.) and setter Jena Berg (Bristol, Wis.), both players who will join the Lady Vols for the 2006 campaign, were named as PrepVolleyball.com High School All-Americans.
In addition, Marshall was honored as one of 21 candidates for the PrepVolleyball.com National Senior of the Year accolade. She also was named the Washington State Gatorade Player of the Year. A two-time All-American, Marshall played at Emerald Ridge High School and was a contributing factor to the Jaguars finishing third at the 2005 4A state tournament and fourth the two previous seasons. As a senior, she tallied 542 kills, 374 digs, 49 blocks and 114 service aces.
Berg was named First Team All-State the past two seasons after being named to the Second Team as a sophomore. The athletic setter helped lead her Wetosha Central High School team to the 2003 and 2004 Division I state championships, while the squad finished second in 2002 and advanced to the quarterfinals in 2005.
