Coach Fulmer's Practice Comments
Tennessee wrapped up a successful but busy week with a 90-minute workout Thursday at Haslam Field. The Vols conducted full practice sessions on just two days only after Monday's late-night victory at LSU.
"I think we've handled it the very best we could and the kids have done great," head coach Phillip Fulmer said of the quick turnaround. "We just had one of our best Thursday practices this year and I'm really happy about that."
The Vols, 2-1 and 1-1 SEC, host Mississippi in a 12:30 p.m. kickoff Saturday at Neyland Stadium. Jefferson-Pilot Sports is providing the telecast and the Vol Network carries the radio play-by-play.
Tennessee enters Saturday's game fresh off a 30-27 overtime win at LSU. The Vols trailed 21-0 and halftime and 24-7 early in the fourth quarter before rallying. Prior to the comeback, UT had not score a single point in the second half and the Vols still have not scored in both halves of any game this season.
"We seem to have come out of the funk we were in on offense," Fulmer said. "I hope it carries over -- that and good preparation and we've had a good week of preparation.
"It's just one of those things that we had to get behind us and get over the hurdle."
