Senior Rick Clausen again finds himself part of an interesting footnote in the history of Tennessee football.
The Thousand Oaks, Calif., native has drawn the starting nod at quarterback in Saturday's SEC opener against Florida, marking his first start of 2005 and fifth as a Volunteer. Clausen also started one game as a redshirt freshman at LSU in a 2002 outing against Mississippi.
And that's where the trivia come in.
Saturday's game in Gainesville -- just like the 2002 contest in Baton Rouge -- features opposing starting quarterbacks that are younger brothers of former Tennessee quarterbacks.
Clausen fills the bill twice as the younger sibling of Casey Clausen, who quarterbacked the Vols from 2000-03. Eli Manning started for Ole Miss in the game three years ago, while Chris Leak gets the nod for Florida this weekend. Peyton Manning quarterbacked the Vols from 1994-97, while C.J. Leak served as a Vols signal-caller from 2002-04.
INJURY UPDATE (Florida Week): Probable -- OG Ramon Foster (foot), C Richie Gandy (knee), DE Jared Hostetter (knee), C David Ligon (ankle), WR Robert Meachem (ankle); Questionable -- LB Jason Mitchell (knee); Out -- DB Jarod Parrish (knee); Out for Season -- QB Jonathan Crompton (shoulder), OL Cameron Mayo (knee), LB Rico McCoy (ankle).
