Tennessee head coach Phillip Fulmer reported that 22 incoming football players have checked in to campus as expected, setting the stage for Friday's opening practice at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
Two February signees, Todd Cox and Darius Myers, did not meet initial eligibility requirements, while another commitment, Ulysses Alexander, was released from his National Letter of Intent.
The Vols have scheduled 23 practices for their preseason camp through Aug. 27, including a pair of two-a-day sessions and three full scrimmages. Tennessee hosts UAB Sept. 3 to begin the 2005 season.
By rule, Tennessee works out in shorts and helmets the first two days, adding shoulder pads Sunday and Monday before donning full gear Tuesday afternoon. Saturday's schedule includes the Vols' annual Media Day at Neyland Stadium, which is closed to the public.
