Tennessee head coach Phillip Fulmer offered no insight as to which quarterback will take the field with the first unit in the 2005 opener against UAB. The Vols practiced for nearly two hours Thursday in Vol gear.
"No big announcement," Fulmer said as he left Haslam Field. "We're still in the evaluation process and we'll continue to talk about it as a staff. Like I've said, I think we have a good situation."
Rick Clausen and Erik Ainge have been virtually even throughout fall camp. Fulmer says he thinks the team feels comfortable with either quarterback at the helm, most likely because they have been so interchangeable during both practices and scrimmages.
"I just wish we had this problem at every position and that's the truth," Fulmer said.
The Vols open one week from Saturday against UAB at Neyland Stadium. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. Eastern time.
