Tennessee baseball player Chase Headley has been named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The junior from Fountain, Colo., is Tennessee's fifth all-time Academic All-America selection and the third to garner first-team honors.
Headley is majoring in Sport management and boasts a cumulative grade-point average of 3.63. Just last week, he was named to the 2005 All-SEC first-team after leading the league in walks, on-base percentage and runs scored during the regular season.
Headley joins former Vols Bubby Tucker (1972-73), Clark Rose (1989), R.A. Dickey (1996) and Jeff Pickler (1997-98) on UT's list of Academic All-America honorees. The five players combined to earn All-America recognition seven times.
