Vols Freshman Arencibia Earns SEC All-Tournament Team Honors

After a strong showing at the 2005 SEC Baseball Tournament in Hoover, Ala., last week, Tennessee catcher J.P. Arencibia was named to the event's All-Tournament Team. The freshman led the Volunteers with a .429 tournament batting average and was UT's lone representative on the All-Tournament squad.
Arencibia went 6-for-14 in Tennessee's four-game run at the tournament. He also led the team with four runs scored and eight total bases. The Miami, Fla., native was named the SEC Freshman of the Year and also earned a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team just two days before the start of the SEC tournament.
Arencibia has started all 60 games for the Vols this season and ranks second on the team with 84 hits, 64 RBIs and 13 home runs. He boasts and overall batting average of .335 on the year.
