The Tennessee baseball team was well-represented on SEBaseball.com's 2005 All-SEC team, which was announced Sunday night. The Volunteers placed six players on the All-SEC first, second and third teams. Each team consisted of fifteen players. Right-handed pitcher Luke Hochevar was tabbed for SEC Player of the Year honors.
Tennessee's first-team selections included Hochevar, third baseman Chase Headley, catcher J.P. Arencibia and outfielder Eli Iorg. No Vols were named to the All-SEC second team, but shortstop Eric King and outfielder Julio Borbon garnered third-team recognition.
Starting left-handed pitcher James Adkins joined Arencibia and Borbon on the All-SEC freshman team.
Tennessee's four All-SEC first-teamers and three All-Freshman-Team picks led all league teams.
SEBaseball.com named LSU's Ryan Patterson the SEC Hitter of the Year, while Arkansas pitcher Nick Schmidt was selected as the SEC Newcomer of the Year. Florida head coach Pat McMahon earned SEC Coach of the Year acclaim.
