The No. 11 Tennessee baseball team hosts Lipscomb Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. The contest marks the Volunteers' final regular-season non-conference game and serves as a tuneup prior to this weekend's pivotal Southeastern Conference series versus Georgia.
The Vols bring a 36-16 (16-10 SEC) record into their clash with the Bison. Junior outfielder Eli Iorg leads UT with a .387 batting average, 82 hits and 14 home runs. As a team, Tennessee is hitting .332 with a staff ERA of 3.66.
Lipscomb is 22-30 (7-20 ASC) this season under fifth-year head coach Wynn Fletcher. Junior outfielder Nathan Sensing paces the club with a .346 batting average and six homers. As a team, the Bison are hitting .275 with a staff ERA of 6.29.
Senior right-handed pitcher Joey Andrews (2-2, 2.33 ERA) is slated to make his first start for Tennessee this season. Andrews has made 16 appearances this year, and he currently occupies fourth place on UT's all-time career appearances list with 66 since 2002.
Lipscomb is expected to start left-hander Zach Duncan (5-6, 5.23 ERA).
Tennessee won its only previous meeting with Lipscomb, posting a 12-4 victory last March in Knoxville. Eric King collected three hits with two doubles and three RBIs in that game, while Chase Headley went 3-for-3.
Vols head coach Rod Delmonico is 23-4 against current members of the Atlantic Sun Conference.
