The No. 19 Tennessee baseball team has added a Tuesday night doubleheader versus Tennessee Temple to its schedule. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m., and the second game of the doubleheader begins 30 minutes after the first contest ends. Admission is free for both games.
The Volunteers (28-12, 10-7 SEC) and Crusaders faced off last Tuesday, with UT posting a 22-4 win. The Vols posted a season-high six stolen bases in that game and also reeled off 21 hits, with eight going for extra bases. Ten different Vols posted hits and seven had RBIs. Senior shortstop Eric King went 5-for-5 with five RBIs and two runs scored.
Junior right-hander Jabe Beard (1-0, 4.61 ERA) is expected to start game one of the doubleheader for the Vols, and redshirt freshman Chase Hardin (0-0, 8.00 ERA) will likely start game two. Tennessee Temple has not announced its starting pitchers.
Tennessee Temple is a Division I member of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA), which includes primarily Christ-centered liberal arts colleges and universities. Founded in 1946, TTU is located in Chattanooga, Tenn.
The Vols lead the all-time series with the Crusaders 3-0, dating to 1987.
