The Tennessee baseball game against ETSU scheduled for Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Lindsey Nelson Stadium has been canceled due to rain. Tennessee will explore the possibility of adding a home game, either with ETSU or another opponent, at a date to be determined later in the season.
The No. 23-ranked Volunteers return to action Wednesday at 7 p.m., when they travel to Asheville, N.C., to face UNC Asheville. The Vols will look to avenge a 13-10 loss to the Bulldogs March 30 in Knoxville.
HOCHEVAR NAMED TO CBF HONOR ROLL FOR THIRD TIME THIS SEASON
For the third time this season, Tennessee baseball pitcher Luke Hochevar has been named to the College Baseball Foundation's National Honor Roll. Released weekly by the CBF, the National Honor Roll salutes the finest performances of the past week in college baseball.
A right-handed junior and a national pitcher of the year candidate, Hochevar tossed seven shutout innings at Kentucky last Friday. He scattered five hits while recording 10 strikeouts to just one walk. Tennessee defeated the Wildcats 18-2 behind Hochevar's third double-digit strikeout performance of the season.
Hochevar is one of only six players in America to have been named to the CBF's National Honor Roll at least three times this year. He currently leads the Southeastern Conference in wins (8), strikeouts (75) and innings pitched (65.0).
