The Tennessee baseball team continues a nine-game, non-conference home stand when it hosts Oakland (Mich.) University for a 3 p.m. contest Wednesday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. The Volunteers are 10-3 this season, including a 6-1 mark at home.
A Tennessee victory would give 16th-year head coach Rod Delmonico his 599th career win, with an opportunity to reach the 600-win milestone this weekend against Radford.
Oakland opened its season with an 8-3 loss in a rain-shortened contest Monday at Vanderbilt. Last year, the Grizzlies finished with an overall record of 20-34 (10-13 M-CC).
Tennessee sophomore Craig Cobb (1-0, 1.04 ERA) will make his second start of the season Wednesday. A Knoxville native and former Farragut High School standout, Cobb owns a career record of 4-5 with a 3.19 ERA.
Tennessee has never previously faced Oakland or any other member of the Mid-Continent Conference.
