The Tennessee baseball team is set to play host to Tennessee Tech Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. The Volunteers (3-3) are hoping for a strong showing versus the Golden Eagles (0-1), who will be playing only their second game of the season.
Tennessee Tech dropped a 9-0 decision to Belmont in the TTU season-opener Feb. 15 in Nashville. The Golden Eagles are led by first-year head coach Matt Bragga, who played at Kentucky from 1991-94.
The Vols are expected to start right-handed sophomore Craig Cobb (0-0, 3.38 ERA), while Tennessee Tech senior Colt Ashman (0-0, 0.00 ERA) is scheduled to get the starting nod for the Eagles.
Tennessee leads the all-time series with Tennessee Tech 59-27-1, dating to 1942. The Vols were victorious in both meetings last season by a combined score of 23-5 and have won 25 of the last 26 games in the series.
