KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Southeastern Conference released the official bracket for the SEC Volleyball Tournament to be contested next weekend in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Sunday evening. The University of Tennessee (19-7, 13-3 SEC), who earned the second seed, will play seventh-seeded Mississippi State (15-11, 6-10 SEC) at 5 p.m. CST on Friday.
Other quarterfinal match-ups on Friday include: No. 4 Arkansas (19-10, 11-5 SEC) vs. No. 5 Kentucky (17-9, 10-6 SEC) at noon, No. 1 (and fifth-ranked) Florida (25-2, 15-1 SEC) vs. No. 8 Georgia (10-16, 5-11 SEC) at 2:30 p.m. and No. 3 LSU (21-6, 11-5 SEC) vs. No. 6 Alabama (21-8, 9-7 SEC) at 7:30 p.m.
The winners of the first two matches will play at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, while the victors of the UT-MSU and LSU-Alabama matches will face off at 6 p.m. The final will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday and will be broadcast live on SEC-TV (FSN South in the Knoxville area).
The tournament will be the final one contested as, starting next season, the 11 volleyball-playing SEC members will play a 20-match round-robin schedule in lieu of a 16-match regular season followed by a postseason tournament.
