Noting Tennessee
- Tennessee improves to 4-5, and Memphis falls to 4-5.
- The Vols entered the game unranked. The Tigers were not ranked.
- UT is now 76-6 during the month of November since 1985, with one of the losses coming against Memphis in 1996.
- Tennessee returns to action next week for its final home game to face Vanderbilt at Neyland Stadium (12:30 p.m. ET, Jefferson Pilot).
- Tennessee leads the series 19-1 dating to 1968.
- UT has won the last four games against Memphis.
- The Tigers' only win against the Vols came in 1996 in Memphis, a 21-17 final.
- The Vols and Tigers last met Nov. 10, 2001, in Knoxville, when UT beat Memphis 49-28.
- Four of the last five games in the series have been decided by four points or less.
- Memphis head coach Tommy West (73-75) was a three-year letterman for Tennessee under coach Bill Battle.
- Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer's record improved to 127-35 (.784) in 14 seasons with the Vols.

- Freshman Arian Foster rushed 28 times for 132 yards in his third start of the season. He has rushed for more than 100 yards in each of starts. He now has 542 yards rushing on the season. He passed William Howard (1984, 452 yards) for seventh most yards rushing by a freshman. He trails Keith Davis (1985, 684 yards) by 142 yards for sixth place.
- Senior Rick Clausen was 14-of-24 for 209 yards and two touchdowns. This is the first time this season that a Tennessee quarterback has had two touchdown passes in a game.
- Senior Jayson Swain caught two passes for 14 yards. He now has 960 career receiving yards.
- Senior C.J. Fayton caught four passes for 45 yards. He now has 981 career receiving yards.
- Sophomore wide receiver Robert Meachem caught two passes for 39 yards. He is the only Tennessee player to have multiple catches in each game this season.
- Freshman Josh Briscoe caught his first career touchdown pass today. The 39-yard catch was Briscoe's third catch of the season.
- Fullback Cory Anderson tied a career high with three catches today.
- The Vols defense has not allowed an opposing tailback to rush for more than 100 yards this season.

- Jonathan Hefney's 37-yard punt return in the second quarter was the longest punt return of the year for Tennessee.
- The 39-yard pass from Clausen to Brisco was Tennessee's longest touchdown play of the season.
- Memphis' 123 yards rushing is the first half is the most against Tennessee this season. The previous high was Georgia's 78.
- Junior placekicker James Wilhoit connected on a 28-yard field goal and a 34-yard field goal in the fourth quarter. He has now made his last five attempts and eight of his last nine.
- The 2005 Tennessee Walking Horse Grand Champion "Main Power" was the featured Walking Horse at today's game. "Main Power" was crowned in August at the Tennessee Walking Horse Celebration in Shelbyville. He is owned by Neal Holland (Decatur), Gus King (Arab), and Bob Kilgore (Tuscaloosa, Ala.). He is ridden and trained by Joe Cotton at David Landrum Stables in Franklin.
