ANDRE NAMED TO ESPN THE MAGAZINE ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAM

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. University of Tennessee volleyball player Kristen Andre (Kelseyville, Calif.) earned recognition on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV Second Team, marking her first academic regional honors. The senior middle blocker had been named to the Academic All-SEC team in 2003 and 2004 (the 2005 announcement will not be made until January).
Andre has earned a cumulative 3.20 GPA as a psychology major and is due to graduate this December after just 3 1-2 years at Rocky Top.
The senior middle blocker is also excelling on the volleyball court, as evidenced by her .374 hitting percentage, the highest average among Southeastern Conference players so far in 2005. She also is second on the team in kills/game with 3.74 and in blocks/game with 1.11.
The Kelseyville, Calif., native has earned SEC Player of the Week accolades on three occasions so far in 2005 and is coming off an excellent 2004 campaign which saw her be recognized as an AVCA Honorable Mention All-American.
Andre and the Lady Vols return to the court on Friday, playing host to Alabama at 7 p.m.
