Coach Fulmer's Practice Comments
Tennessee has no illusions about Georgia and head coach Mark Richt being intimidated one bit by Saturday's visit to Neyland Stadium. A crowd of more than 107,000 is expected, but Richt and the Bulldogs have made a habit of winning in the opponents' backyards.
Georgia's head coach has compiled a 16-2 record in road stadiums during his five-year tenure with the Bulldogs, including wins over the Vols in Knoxville during the 2001 and 2003 campaigns.
"They are a well-coached and will be a challenge," said Fulmer, who is 17-3 by comparison in road stadiums since the start of 2001. "I would encourage the crowd to be out early and loud and help us out all they can. We've been to Florida and LSU and gotten the other end of that treatment.
"Of course, we have to do our part and give them something to cheer about."
The Vols split a pair of away tussles last month against top-10 ranked foes, dropping a 16-7 decision at Florida and winning 30-27 in overtime at LSU. Now, Tennessee looks to snap a five-game home losing streak to top-10 opponents when the undefeated Bulldogs take their shot.
"We've had a really good week of preparation," Fulmer said after Thursday's workout in the Neyland-Thompson Sports Center. "I don't think I could have asked any more from the kids and the coaches.
"If we don't play well, it won't be because we haven't prepared well. We can't wait to play."
