Noting Tennessee

Foster has huge night in first-career start
· TB Arian Foster made his first-career start tonight and finished with 25 carries for 148 yards.
· Foster became the first freshman to start at tailback since Jamal Lewis made his first start in 1997 vs. Ole Miss (22 carries, 155 yards, 1 touchdown).
· Foster scored his second-career touchdown with 2:43 left in the first quarter on a 1-yard leap to tie the game at 7.

Hall collects safety, two sacks
· DE Jason Hall sacked South Carolina's Blake Mitchell for a safety with 6:08 remaining in the second quarter. It was UT's first safety since Nov. 23, 2002, vs. Vanderbilt when the Commodores' punter was tackled in the end zone.
· Hall sacked Mitchell again in the third quarter and forced his first-career fumble inside the SC 10.

Forced turnovers a positive spot
· DB Corey Campbell recovered his second-career fumble with 14:35 left in the second quarter when South Carolina's Carlos Thomas fumbled a kickoff following UT's second-quarter field goal.
· LB Ryan Karl recovered his first-career fumble on the SC 18 with 3:34 left in the second quarter following a UT punt.
· DB Jonathan Hefney got his third-career interception and returned it 37 yards with :04 left in the second quarter. Hefney, a South Carolina native, also had an interception against the Gamecocks last year.

· Tennessee allowed its first passing touchdown in SEC play with 8:07 left in the first quarter when South Carolina's Blake Mitchell threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Sidney Rice. The duo connected again with 11:33 left in the fourth quarter. The scores were just the second and third passing touchdown allowed by UT this year, respectively.
