Vols Move up to No. 13 in Polls

Tennessee is ranked No. 13 in both the AP college football poll and the ESPN Coaches' Poll following the Vols' off week. The Vols (1-0) moved up one spot in both of the polls.
Tennessee opens Southeastern Conference play versus Florida on Sept. 18. The Gators defeated Eastern Michigan this past Saturday.
The effects of Miami's 16-10 overtime victory over Florida State have rippled through the top 10 in the latest Associated Press college football poll released Sunday.
In their Atlantic Coast Conference opener Friday, the Hurricanes (1-0) rallied from a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit to upend the Seminoles (0-1). Frank Gore scored the game-winning 18-yard touchdown in overtime.
As a result, Miami jumped up a spot to fourth, a ranking previously occupied by Florida State. The Seminoles fell to eighth.
Louisiana State (2-0), which benefited from three missed extra points to beat unranked Oregon State in its season opener, returned to form with a 53-3 thumping of Arkansas State on Saturday.
The Tigers, the BCS champions who were ranked fourth in the preseason poll, moved up a spot to fifth.
Top-ranked defending champion Southern California (2-0) rolled to a 49-0 victory over Colorado State on Saturday. The Trojans picked up another first-place vote, giving them 52 overall and 1,611 points in a nationwide panel of sportswriters and broadcasters.
Oklahoma (2-0) remained second with 10 first-place votes and 1,552 points. Led by Heisman Trophy winner Jason White, the Sooners scored 28 first-quarter points en route to a 63-13 triumph over Houston on Saturday.
Georgia (2-0) received the other three first-place votes and 1,478 points and remained No. 3. The Bulldogs scored a fourth-quarter touchdown to defeat unranked South Carolina, 20-16, on Saturday.
Texas (2-0) moved up a spot to sixth following a 22-20 victory over Arkansas. West Virginia (2-0) climbed from 10th to seventh after a 45-20 triumph over Central Florida.
Ohio State (2-0) remained ninth and California (2-0) moved up two spots to round out the top 10.
Florida (1-0) is 11th, followed by Virginia (2-0), Tennessee (1-0), Auburn (2-0), Utah (2-0) and Iowa (2-0).
Michigan (1-1) allowed 21 fourth-quarter points to Notre Dame on Saturday and lost, 28-20. The Wolverines tumbled nine spots to 17th.
Purdue (2-0) thrashed Ball State, 59-7, on Saturday and climbed from 25th to 18th.
Previously unranked Fresno State (2-0) climbed to 19th following a 45-21 thrashing of Kansas State, which was knocked out of the top 25 after entering the weekend 13th.
Wisconsin (2-0), Maryland (2-0) and Minnesota (2-0) comprise slots 20-22.
Also cracking the top 25 were Boise State (2-0), Louisville (2-0) and Memphis (2-0), who round out the bottom three in the poll.
