Our team is headed to our first tournament this weekend in Charleston, S.C., and I am super excited!! We have a lot of talented players this year, which will only make our team stronger. We are going into our first tournament with the mindset to WIN and with a good finish, the team will build confidence to help us during the year.
So far, my sophomore year has been a blast! I am no longer a solo freshman, but I am still adapting to the busy pace and lifestyle as a student-athlete. My freshman year, like most, was challenging and a test of strength. My academics kept me extremely busy, the intense workouts were exhausting, and the long hours practicing to compete in a Division I sport kept me on my toes at all times. There were good times along with the hard times, but the rewards were GREAT! I have wonderful teammates that helped me through the year. From them, I learned a lot about golf and life itself.
I would never go back and change anything because I have become more determined and stronger because of it. I was fortunate to get to travel to many of our tournaments last year and experience the level of competition that we compete at. I realized how much talent there is out there and how much harder I am going to have to work on my game to compete. Going to
Nationals at the end of the season was the icing on the cake. IT WAS AWESOME!!!! There is not a feeling like being at a tournament representing your school and competing for the national championship.
It is nice to be back on campus getting back into the swing of things and getting geared up for a great season. I came off of a fun and enjoyable summer. I played a lot of golf and now I am ready to compete. I am thrilled about my sophomore year!! I feel confident in my game and in the past year, I feel that I have improved, which motivates me to get better. I am very excited to be in the lineup for our first tournament. I know that I will feel much more relaxed this year than last year starting our first tournament because I will know what to expect. I will be nervous, of course, but it will be an exciting nervousness and not a sick nervousness.
Over the past few weeks, our team has been working hard not only on the golf course, but also in the classroom and in the weight room. I wish my team the best of luck this year. I know it will be great!
