University of Tennessee junior Lloyd Campbell continued his impressive showing at the 133rd British Open Friday with a 3-over-par 74 at Scotland's Royal Troon.
Campbell's two-day total of 147 (+5) missed the cut by two stokes. His two-day score ranked second only to Scotland's Stewart Wilson's 143 among five amateurs in this year's field. Wilson was the only amateur to make this year's cut.
In Friday's round, Campbell started slow at 3-over after the first four holes, including a double-bogey at No. 4. He stopped the bleeding with three consecutive pars, before recording a birdie 2 on the famous "Postage Stamp" hole. On the back, Campbell recorded eight straight pars before a bogey on No. 18.
For the tournament, Campbell averaged 293 yards on his drives, recorded five birdies, 23 pars and had no three-putts in 36 holes.
