Former University of Tennessee Lady Vol basketball player Brynae Laxton has recently graduated from medical school at the University of Kentucky.
Laxton, a native of Oneida, Tenn., was a 6'0" forward for the Lady Vols from 1995-98 where she was a member of three national championship teams in 1996, 1997 and 1998. She appeared in 99 games for UT and averaged 2.7 ppg and 2.2 rpg and was named as a member of the All-Southeastern Conference Academic team in 1996, 1997 and 1998.
Dr. Laxton graduated with "High Distinction" from the UK Medical School and will be starting her residency program at the University of Cincinnati in the surgery specialty of Otolaryngology (ear, nose, and throat).
"There is a great possibility that I will return to Knoxville eventually to join a group practice after my residency," said Dr. Laxton.
Dr. Laxton was a standout athlete as a prepster at Oneida High School. She is the daughter of Bryan and Patricia Laxton.
