The Tennessee men's tennis team moved up one spot to No. 15 in the new Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings, which were released Tuesday. The updated rankings mark the first time the Volunteers (12-6, 5-4 SEC) have appeared in the top 15 since January 2003.
Powered by an NCAA-record 53 consecutive dual-match wins, Illinois held on to the top spot in the rankings. The Fighting Illini are followed in the top 10 by Baylor, Southern California, UCLA, Ole Miss, Duke, Virginia Commonwealth, Georgia, Florida and Virginia, respectively.
UT has a 3-2 record this season against teams currently ranked in the top 10.
Tennessee is the 5th-highest ranked team in the Southeastern Conference, and the SEC is the nation's only league to boast three top-10 teams and place all of its members in the top 45.
The ITA will release new team and individual rankings April 20.
The Volunteers close out their regular-season schedule with a trip to the Heart of Dixie this weekend. Tennessee visits No. 43 Auburn Friday at 7 p.m. ET and then travels to face No. 35 Alabama Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
