Rivera Named SEC Baseball Player of the Week

University of Tennessee right fielder Michael Rivera was named the Southeastern Conference's Player of the Week after hitting .632 (12-for-19) and raising average from .282 to a team-best .397. He is currently batting .533 on a team-high nine-game hitting streak.
Rivera is the first Vol since Chris Burke in 2001 to be named player of the week. The Vols have had two pitchers of the week the last two years.
The sophomore from Miami, Fla., batting from the No. 9 slot in the lineup, tied a career-high with four runs scored against Niagara. He led the Vols with eight runs scored and 12 hits on the week. Rivera collected four of his six multi-hit games during the five-game stretch while posting a .947 slugging average with a .650 on-base percentage.
The Volunteers went 5-0 last week, extending their winning streak to 12 games for a 16-2 record.
