Tennessee fell out of the Top 10 for the first time season following the Vols' 30-13 loss to then-No. 10 Florida. The Vols, who had spent the last four weeks at No. 4 in both major polls, dropped to No. 11, while the Gators climbed three places to No. 7 in the lastest AP poll.
Miami remained a near-unanimous No. 1 choice over No. 2 Oklahoma and No. 3 Texas, while Notre Dame (4-0) jumped into the Top 10 for the first time this season at No. 10. Miami received 69 first-place votes and 1,845 points from the 74 sports writers and broadcasters on the AP panel. The Hurricanes beat Boston College 38-6 Saturday night.
Florida State, a 48-17 winner over Duke, moved up a spot to No. 4, and Virginia Tech improved two places to No. 5 after its 13-3 win at Texas A&M.
Kansas State also made a big leap after its 27-20 win over USC, the Wildcats' first-ever home win against a ranked nonconference opponent. They moved up 10 places to No. 15, while the Trojans fell seven spots to No. 18.
Newcomers this week are Oregon State at No. 23 and Colorado State at No. 25. UCLA and California dropped out after losses on Saturday.
