Former Vol Luke Hudson Called Up By Reds

Former Tennessee pitcher Luke Hudson, who played for the Volunteers from 1996-98, was called up by the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday. When he pitches, he will make his Major League debut.
Hudson was recalled from the Triple-A Louisville Bats to fill the roster spot vacated by pitcher Jose Silva, who returned to the disabled list. For the Bats, H;udson recorded a 4-6 record with a 4.57 ERA in 13 starts and two relief appearances. When promoted, he ranked fifth in the International League with 86 strikeouts.
It is his first season in the organization after the righthander was acquired from the Colorado Rockies on Dec. 18, 2001, along with LHP Gabe White, in exchange for IF Pokey Reese and LHP Dennys Reyes.
Hudson compiled a 15-5 career mark with a 4.93 ERA for the Volunteers, and was a fifth round draft pick by the Rockies in 1998.
