Vol Golfers to Compete in Cleveland Golf/ Augusta State Invitational

Tennessee travels to Augusta, Ga. this weekend to compete in the 2002 Cleveland Golf/Augusta State Invitational at Forest Heights Country Club (par 72, 6,875 yards).
Head coach Jim Kelson is looking forward to seeing his ninth-ranked Vols compete this week.
"We are really looking forward to getting out there and competing against a great field on a great course," Kelson said. "We are coming off two rather disappointing tournaments but we have played consistently and should bounce back."
This weekend's field includes eight teams ranked in Golfweek's Top 25. Nationally ranked teams in Augusta include Clemson(2) , Wake Forest(3), Florida(4), Tennessee(9), Georgia(14), Virginia Tech(15), Augusta State(16) and North Carolina State(19). Other teams include Alabama-Birmingham, College of Charleston, Duke, Georgia Southern, LSU, North Carolina, North Florida, South Carolina, South Carolina-Aiken and Tulsa.
Leading the Vols into this tournament will be freshman David Skinns. Skinns leads the Vols in stroke average with a 71.62 and has five top 10 finishes. Also competing will be fellow freshman Ross McGowan, who has the second lowest stroke average on the team of 71.67. Other Vols competing this weekend include senior Andrew Black, junior Andrew Pratt and junior Ian Parnaby.
Tennessee competed in this tournament last year, finishing eighth. The Vols fired scores of 288-294-290--872. Then-senior Andy Brimer (212) led the way for UT with a 7th-t place finish.
