Vols Rout Morehead State, 18-2

Knoxville, Tenn. -- Nick Crowe went 4-for-4 as Tennessee exacted a measure of revenge against Morehead State by pounding out a season-high 23 hits in an 18-2 rout of the Eagles at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
The victory was the 499th for head coach Rod Delmonico. He will go for win No. 500 when Tennessee takes on the UNC Asheville Bulldogs, Friday at 3 p.m. ET.
The Volunteers (7-10) scored in every inning except the second, including four in the third, five in the fourth and four in the seventh.
In addition to Crowe, Jordan Czarniecki, Brandon Hopkins, Adam Smith and Dennis Gomez all collected three hits in the barage.
Czarniecki scored four times while going 3-for-3, coming up a triple shy of hitting for the cycle. He hit a double, a single and a home run in his first three plate appearances.
After giving up one hit through five innings, Dusty Johnson (1-0) labored in the sixth, allowing two runs on three hits. He finished with a career-high five strikeouts and one walk in 5 1/3 innings.
Brian St. Jean, Justin Reed and Erik Filsinger closed out the game in strong fashion, allowing just two hits while striking out four and walking one.
Matt Midkiff (1-1) took the loss as he was tagged for eight runs (five earned) on 10 hits in three-plus innings. Morehead State fell to 3-3.
Sixth other Eagle pitchers could not contain the Vol hitters as they were touched for 10 runs on 13 hits in five innings.
Lance Seasor's 2-for-3 day paced the six hits collected by the Eagles.
After jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the first, two Eagle errors led to three unearned runs in the third as the Vols took a 5-0 lead.
Czarniecki's two-run home run highlighted a five-run fifth for the Vols as they pounded out six hits for a 10-0 lead.
Hopkins drove in two more in the fifth as the lead grew to 12-0.
The Eagles struck for two runs in the sixth on Seasor's base hit and a sacrifice fly.
The Vols plated four more in the seventh on five hits and one more in the eighth for the final 18-2 margin.
