| TENNESSEE ALL-AMERICANS |
The University of Tennessee Lady Volunteer tennis program is steeped in tradition. In its 26-year history, 10 individuals stand out as All-Americans. The trend started in 1978 when Australian natives Paula and Peta Kelly arrived on campus and promptly began to lay the foundation on which the program has flourished. The Kellys earned All-America status three times as a doubles tandem. The Kellys' teammate, Michelle DePalmer, was the next Lady Vol to pick up the honor in 1981 for her singles play. In 1989, Stacey Martin recieved the honor in singles, and three years later Shannon Kagawa and Mandy Wilson became the second Tennessee All-America doubles team. In 1995, Margie Lepsi joined the list for her singles play. Lepsi and doubles partner Manisha Malhotra earned doubles honors from 1996-98, and in 1997, Malhotra became the first Lady Vol to be an All-American in singles and doubles in the same year. The latest member of the Orange and White All-America family is Vilmarie Castellvi, who earned the honor in singles in 2002.
