Ikeakor To Leave Vol Basketball Team

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Junior forward Andy Ikeakor has decided to leave the University of Tennessee basketball program and transfer to another school, head coach Buzz Peterson announced Sunday.
"We are sad to see Andy leave but we want what is best for him," Peterson said. "He wanted to go to a situation where he would be able to get some more playing time. He was in a position here where there is a lot of competition and he just wanted to be on the court more. We wish him the best of luck."
Ikeakor, a native of Houston, Texas, had seen action in one game this season, scoring two points while grabbing four rebounds against VMI. Hampered by injuries through out his career, he averaged 0.8 points and 1.1 rebounds in 10 games since arriving at Tennessee before the 2000-01 season.
