TENNESSEE QUOTES
Head Coach Phillip Fulmer
"I'm very proud of this team and the win we got here tonight. You have to give Arkansas a great deal of credit. They played a tough football game from start to finish. Our offense didn't get rattled in the first half. We kept pounding the rock until something happened for us. Our defense had a tremendous game tonight. They did a great job of containing Cedric Cobbs and that is very difficult to do because he is a talented back. Our team showed a lot of character. This is a big win and we are going to enjoy it tonight. We have some big games coming up and we will get to work on Monday for our next challenge."
Travis Stephens
"I've never worked that hard in a game. I feel fortunate that I got the chance tonight. In the game plan with the weather like it was, I knew I was going to get a lot of runs. I wanted to get the ball in the end zone. I went into the huddle every play and said I was going to get in. Fred (Weary) kept telling me I was going to score. I was very fortunate that the line opened lines for me. If it weren't for them, I would not have gained a yard. Dominique (Stevenson) told me before the game he was going to set Cobbs down so I could be the best rusher in the game. He stuck to his word and I feel very blessed."
Dominique Stevenson
"Cobbs is a good back and we knew we needed to stop him. Coming into the rain, we knew it was going to be a hard-nosed game. Arkansas always plays us hard here and we knew it was going to be a close game. We knew if we played hard every play that we could win. Tonight's game is every players' dream because it's like being a kid again in the back yard."
ARKANSAS QUOTES
Head Coach Houston Nutt:
"It was a tremendous effort by our defense, we hung in there for three quarters. We just couldn't put together a drive. They are good, there's no question. They are the No. 7 team in the country. They did a good job. It was very difficult (the weather delays). It was difficult to keep them loose. (On Sorahan) Everything was good until there at the end. I wish we could have those last couple of series back. On one, I wish he had dumped it off. On a positive note, we found out we can play with anybody in the country.
"I was proud of our effort. We just need to find a way to move the ball more consistently. Cedric (Cobbs) was in there most of the night. It is hard to substitute when you play and then stop and play again. Also you are dealing with the rain.
Carlos Hall
"We kept fighting. You have to give them a lot of credit. They executed all their plays. This is a tough loss. We have to keep our heads up and stay together. I was proud of the way our defense played."
Cedric Cobbs
"I just hope things get better. Tennessee is a tough team. We were just one big play on offense away from winning. Once we get the offense going, we'll be a lot better. I think the rain hurt us. It would have made it easier for our receivers to catch the ball.
Ken Hamlin
"Every game means a lot for me (playing against UT). We put it all out there on the field. We just have to keep working hard and be able to finish games. We gave it our all until the last play. We have to put this behind us and get ready for next week. We have to come out every week and play hard, and try to dominate. We will correct all of our mistakes this week."
