Tennessee coming off a victory over Duke
KNOXVILLE (Mar. 30, 2001) -- Head coach Lisa Glenn's University of Tennessee Lady Volunteer rowing team returns to the friendly waters of Lake Loudoun to compete in a dual meet against Louisville on Saturday, March 31. The 2,000 meter race will be held in front of the team's new 2.5 million dollar boathouse with the finish line extending just beyond the end of the boathouse.
The Lady Vols will compete in four races (Varsity 8+, Varsity 4+, Novice 8+, and Novice 4+) and enter two shells in each of the races against the Cardinals. An added bonus for all the fans in attendance will be the first-ever Lady Volunteer Alumnae race featuring past Orange and White rowers who served as the base for the five-year old program.
Last week at the Clemson Invitational, the Lady Vols defeated Duke in three of four races while falling to Clemson by the same margin. This week's dual meet is the third of seven straight weeks of competition for the Lady Vols. Next week, the varsity team heads to San Diego to compete in the San Diego Crew Classic while the novice will stay home to take on Emory.
