Five Tennis Vols Ranked in New ITA Poll

The Vols were led in singles by junior Peter Handoyo at No. 28. Handoyo dropped from No. 9 in the previous poll. The big gainer for the Vols was senior Paul Podbury who came in at No. 35 in the new poll. Podbury’s ranking is up 20 spots from his preseason rank of No. 55. Tennessee senior Mark Parsons made a jump back into the polls at No. 59 after being left out of the preseason rankings due to an injury-filled fall season. Junior Adam Carey was ranked No. 73 in the new poll which is down 13 spots from No. 60 in the preseason.
The Vol netters also placed two doubles teams in the new rankings. Carey and Parsons were the highest-ranked Vols at No. 9. The pair were ranked No. 6 in the preseason. Tennessee juniors Handoyo and Andy Crews were recognized as the No. 18 duo in the country after being ranked No. 13 in the preseason.

VOLS IN NATIONAL INDOOR EVENT:
The Vols next action will be at the National Indoor Tournament in Seattle, Wash. Thursday-Sunday. The No. 2 Vols will face No. 44 Oklahoma State in the first round of the 16-team event.
