KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP)

Tara VanDerveer and Marianne Stanley, who both coached NCAA champions, are among eight people joining the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame this year.

The smallest group of inductees since the hall opened in 1999 will be inducted April 26-27 in Knoxville.

VanDerveer led Stanford to two national titles in the 1990s and coached the U.S. team to Olympic gold in 1996. Stanley won three titles at Old Dominion in the 1970s and 1980s and is now an assistant coach with the WNBA's Washington Mystics.

Others in the 2002 class:

Cindy Brogdon, who played at Mercer and Tennessee and was a member on the 1976 U.S. Olympic team that won silver.

Kamie Ethridge, Texas' point guard during its 34-0 national championship season in 1986, and a member of the gold medal-winning 1988 U.S. Olympic team.

Margaret Sexton Gleaves, a member of five AAU championship teams in the 1940s.

Hortencia de Fatima Marcari Oliva, who led Brazil to the silver medal at the 1996 Olympics.

Sandra Meadows, who coached Duncanville (Texas) High School to a 743-120 record over 25 seasons, including a 134-game winning streak from 1987-91. Her overall record of 906-227 ranks sixth in girls' high school basketball.

Lea Plarski, a founding member of the women's division of the National Junior College Athletic Association and former member of the U.S. Olympic Committee's House of Delegates.
