Stephens' has now rushed for at least 100 yards in six games this season and seven times in his career ... Stephens has rushed for 1057 yards on 225 carries this season, averaging 132.1 per game this season ... He entered today's game as the SEC's leading rusher, averaging 133.3 yards and ranked sixth nationally.
QB Casey Clausen equaled his career-high with 5 touchdown passes today ... Clausen completed 22-of-35 for 298 yards, 5 touchdowns and 1 interception ... He completed passes to nine different receivers today ... Clausen also had five TD passes in last year's 63-20 win over Arkansas ... With five TD passes today, Clausen now has 28 career scoring tosses.
Clausen moved into 9th place on UT's all-time career passing leaders list today ... Clausen, a sophomore, has passed for 3379 yards during his UT career ... He moved past Condredge Holloway (3102), Tony Robinson (3332) and Dewey Warren (3357) today.
Clausen is now 13-2 as a starter at quarterback for the Vols ... He has a 8-1 mark as the Vols' QB when throwing for at least 200 yards (5-1 in 2001) ... Clausen has now thrown for 1577 yards the past six games (262.8/game).
WR Donte' Stallworth hauled in a career-high 3 touchdown passes from Clausen in today's game ... Stallworth caught 7 passes for a career-high 142 yards today ... Senior OG Fred Weary, who was involved in a Thursday night traffic accident and spent the night at UT Medical Center, started today's game ... Weary pounced on a first quarter fumble to keep a UT drive alive at the UM 40-yardline.
Julian Battle picked off his second pass of the season today ... Battle made a diving interception in the first quarter at the UM 43-yardline ... Battle's other pick this season was at Arkansas in the Vols 13-3 win over the Hogs ... He also recorded a pass broken up and a tackle for loss today ... Last week at Notre Dame Battle caused two fumbles and return an Irish bobble 81 yards for a TD ... Rashad Baker also recorded his team-leading third interception of the year.
The Vols scored 10 first half points off Memphis turnovers forced by the UT defense ... John Henderson recovered his second fumble of the season today ... Henderson returned it five yards to the Memphis 12 to set up the Vols' second touchdown, giving UT a 14-0 advantage in the second quarter ... Mark Jones hit UM running back Jeremiah Bonds behind the line of scrimmage to force the fumble ... UT scored a field goal in the second quarter to make it 25-7 at halftime following a Bernard Jackson fumble recovery at the Memphis UM 5-yard line.
Punter Dustin Colquitt averaged 49.0 on 4 punts today ... He hit a career-long 55-yarder to back the Tigers up on their 7-yardline in the first half ... Colquitt's previous career-long was a 53-yarder in the season opener against Syracuse ... PK Alex Walls connected on 2-of-2 field goals today ... He is now 9-of-13 for the season.
