Tennessee vs. Florida - Sept. 16, 2000

The Vols set a school record for attendance today with 108,768, bettering the previous mark of 108,064 in the season opening win over Southern Miss Sept. 2.
Tennessee's loss ends the Vols' 23-game winning streak at Neyland Stadium...The Vols now have a 58-8 mark at home since 1990...Prior to today, UT's last home loss was to Florida in 1996 (35-29).
Tennessee head coach Phillip Fulmer is the nation's winningest active head coach...Following today's game, Fulmer has a 77-15 (.837) mark beginning his ninth season at his alma mater...He now has a 28-12 record against ranked teams during his tenure at UT...Following today's loss, Tennessee now leads the all-time series with Florida 16-14, including a 10-6 mark in Knoxville...UT outgained the Gators 203-39, making today the first time since the series began on a yearly basis in 1990 that the team with the most rushing yards did not win the game.
Travis Henry's 175 yards on the ground today made him just the ninth UT player to pass the 2000-yard rushing mark...He moved him into 8th place on the Vols' all-time rushing list...Henry now has 2074 career yards...He passed Stanley Morgan (1952 yards) and Aaron Hayden (2061) today...He now has 10 career 100-yard games, tying him for fourth on UT's all-time list with Reggie Cobb and James Stewart...Henry has rushed for at least 100 yards in last six regular season games dating back to last year.
Henry's 37 carries today is a career-high...He had 32 carries for 197 yards last season at Arkansas...41 rushing attempts is the UT single-game record held by Johnnie Jones (vs. Rutgers, 1983).
A.J. Suggs, a redshirt freshman, made his first start at QB today...Suggs finished the day 17-of-29 for 140 yards and one interception...Suggs' completed a pass to Cedrick Wilson on the Vols' two-point conversion to give UT a 20-17 lead with 1:43 remaining in the third quarter.
Cedrick Wilson had 9 catches for 70 yards today...He moved to No. 8 (tied with Carl Pickens) on the Vols' all-time receptions list with 109, passing Richmond Flowers (101), Alvin Harper (102), Jeremaine Copeland (103), Anthony Hancock (106) Wilson also moved into the Vols' Top 10 in all-time receiving yardage with 1551...He also caught a two-point conversion pass from Suggs in the third quarter to put UT up 20-17...Wilson's career-high is 10 receptions vs. Memphis last season.
Punter David Leaverton averaged 44.8 on 4 punts today...None of his punts were returned by the Gators, giving him a 44.8 net average...His final punt in the fourth quarter backed the Gators up to their 9-yardline with 2:14 remaining.
Linebacker Dominique Stevenson recorded his first career interception with 13:25 remaining that led to a Walls' field goal to give UT a 23-17 advantage at the 10:46 mark.
Placekicker Eric Walls, who was recently awarded a scholarship by Coach Fulmer, tied a UT single-game record with 5 field goals today, including four in the first half to account for all the Vols' scoring...Walls previous career-high was 3 FGs vs. South Carolina last season (3-of-3)Walls' five field goals ties UT's single-game record, sharing the mark with Alan Duncan (1978 vs. Kentucky) and Fuad Reviez (1982 vs. Memphis & Kentucky).
The Vol Defense held Florida to no first downs its first 4 possessions...The Gator offense did not pick up a first down until the 7:34 mark in the second quarter...The Vols amassed a 21:13-to-8:47 time of possession advantage in the first half...Tennessee outgained the Gators 226-79 in total yardage in the first half, including a 108-17 advantage on the ground...Tennessee led 12-7 at halftime...Florida began the second half with an 80-yard, 16-play drive that resulted in a 24-yard field goal by Jeff Chandler to close the gap to 12-10.
