2000 Tennessee Football Roster
The countdown to Tennessee's Sept. 2 season opener begins Sunday, Aug. 6 when freshmen officially report to campus.
"This team seems to very much into each other," said Tennessee head coach Phillip Fulmer. "We've had an excellent offseason program, probably the best since I've been here. I'm looking forward to the start of two-a-day practices next week."
Many of the Vols' incoming freshmen have already reported to campus for the second summer school semester and summer workouts.
Following a day of orientation Aug. 7, the rookies will begin two days of non-contact work before the returning players report Aug. 9.
The Vols will take Aug. 10 off from the practice field to hold Media Day, before beginning non-contact two-a-day workouts as a full squad Aug. 11. UT's first practice in pads will be Aug. 15.
Tennessee opens its 2000 season Sept. 2 against Southern Mississippi in a 7:30 p.m. (EDT) kickoff that will be shown nationally on ESPN.
CAREY AND DICKERSON NOT REPORTING: Coach Fulmer also announced that running back Shyrone Carey, a 5-9, 170-pound from Archbishop Shaw in Bridge City, La., and Mondre Dickerson, 6-6, 265-pound lineman from Melrose High School in Memphis, are not reporting Sunday and will not be attending the University of Tennessee this fall.
