Cedrick Wilson on Biletnikoff Award Watch List
August 23, 2000 | Football
Tennessee's Cedrick Wilson is one of 35 receivers named to the "Watch List" for the 2000 Fred Biletnikoff Award given annually to the top receiver in college football.
Wilson, who led the Vols with 57 receptions for 827 yards and four touchdowns last season, earned second-team All-Southeastern Conference honors from the Associated Press. He enters his senior season with 97 career receptions for 1456 yards and 12 touchdowns.
The senior from Memphis will again be the Vols' primary go-to receiver in 2000 taking that role from Peerless Price following the 1998 season. He began the 1999 campaign with 7 catches for 183 yards and a career-long 64-yard TD in the season opener against Wyoming before pulling a hamstring that hampered him the remainder of the season. He hauled in a career-high 10 catches the Vols' win over Memphis.
"Cedrick is truly a leader, a man our offense will go to when the chips are down," said Vol receivers coach Pat Washington.
