Message from Doug Dickey, Athletics Director
To Vol Fans Everywhere:The University of Tennessee appreciates the positive support and the display of sportsmanship shown when the Vols and Arkansas squared off last Saturday. The Tennessee-Kentucky rivalry game is the oldest rivalry Tennessee is involved with. Each year, men in Orange & White face off against men in Blue & White in a traditional game anxiously awaited by fans on both sides of the border.
When the Wildcats come to town Saturday, we ask our fans to support the Vols and help make our home-field advantage a winning edge. At the same time, we request that you treat our guests from Kentucky as each of you would want to be treated when we play in Lexington.
Southeastern Conference games have always featured first-class football. Furthermore, the friendly rivalry between the fans is as much a part of the tradition as are the exploits of young men on each side of the field.
Let's back our team, but let's also treat our visitors the right way, the University of Tennessee way. With a large television audience watching, let's put our best foot forward and show why Tennessee fans are the best in the world.
