Three Vols Named to All-SEC Teams
March 07, 2000 | Men's Basketball
Junior guard Tony Harris garnered first-team honors, sophomore forward Vincent Yarbrough earned second-team accolades, while junior forward Isiah Victor landed on the coaches' third team.
Harris' selection to the first team is the first for a Vol since Allan Houston received the honor in 1993. He was a second-team pick by the Associated Press and third-team choice by the coaches in 1999. In 1998 he was a unanimous selection to the SEC's All-Freshman team by the league's coaches.
Yarbrough was named to the 1999 SEC All-Freshman team last season, while Victor's only previous honor came in 1998 when he was named to the SEC All-Freshman team.
Harris ranked second on the team in scoring at 15.1 points per game, while leading the team in assists at 4.2 per game as well as being the leading 3-pointer shooter on the club, knocking down a career-high 68 long-range balls.
Yarbrough, who led the Vols in scoring at 15.4 points per game, 7.2 rebounds per game and 1.8 steals per game, ranked in the top 10 in the league in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage, free-throw percentage, steals and blocked shots.
Victor averaged 10.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, while ranking third in blocked shots and leading all starters in field goal percentage at 52.0.
The Vols will play the winner of the Alabama/South Carolina game in the quarterfinals of the Southeastern Conference Tournament March 9 at 1 p.m. ET.
