November 22, 2000 | Men's Basketball
The University of Alaska-Anchorage announced today that Tennessee is among the eight-team field for the 2001 Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout.
The 24th annual event is scheduled for Nov. 21-24 at Sullivan Arena in Anchorage, Alaska. Joining the Vols in the tournament are: Alaska-Anchorage, Gonzaga, Indiana, Marquette, Oregon State, St. John's and Texas.
The Vols, who are 1-2 all-time in the tournament, will be making their second appearance in the Great Alaska Shootout. The 2001 Great Alaska Shootout will be just the second time ever that the Vols have visited the state of Alaska.
The Alaska Shootout trip will be the third tournament trip off the U.S. mainland in as many years after the Vols played in the San Juan (Puerto Rico) Classic last season and will play in Hawaii's Rainbow Classic next month.
