Tennessee (2-0), playing its second game of a five-game home stand, has won 29 straight non-conference home games and three in a row over the Buccaneers.
"This was a good way to get ready for a tough test Tuesday," said UT head coach Jerry Green, whose team host 2000 Final Four participant Wisconsin. "I thought it would be closer than this, but we played a little better today than we did Friday. I liked the way we shared the ball today."
Charles Hathaway, Harris Walker and Marcus Haislip each scored 12 points, and Isiah Victor, Tony Harris and Terrence Woods had 11 apiece for the Vols. Victor also had 10 rebounds.
"Terrence Woods is giving us a good lift," said Green. "He's scoring quickly and giving us better overall play. Charles Hathaway is working hard and he's been a bright spot on defense and offense."
Dimeco Childress led East Tennessee State (0-2) with 15 points, while D.J. McDuffie had 14 and Ryan Lawson 11.
After the Vols built a 55-28 halftime lead, Tennessee stretched its lead to 71-31 with a 16-3 run four minutes into the second half.
