  POSTGAME NOTES
  Sept. 30, 2000
Tennessee is 1-1 in overtime games. The Vols defeated Florida 20-17 in 1998 in Knoxville. Tennessee was on offense first in the Florida game and won when Cooper Collins missed a field goal.
The last time Tennessee began 0-2 in the SEC was 1988 when it began 0-4 in league action and 0-6 overall. This is only the third time in Fulmer's career that he has suffered at least two league losses in a season (1994 - 5-3; 1999 - 6-2).
The last time Tennessee opened a season 2-2 was in 1986 when it finished with an overall record of 7-5.
The last time Tennessee lost to an unranked opponent was a 28-24 setback at Arkansas in 1999. The Vols were ranked No. 3 at the time.
Tonight's loss to LSU snaps Tennessee's three-game winning streak in the series. The Vols still lead the overall series 18-4-3. Phillip Fulmer is 1-1 against LSU. Tennessee is 1-2-1 in its last four night games at LSU.
Tennessee has not lost in the orange jerseys on the road or at a neutral site since a 31-13 setback to Penn State in the 1994 Citrus Bowl. Tennessee had played four times since then: 1994 Gator Bowl, 1996 Citrus Bowl, 1998 SEC Championship, 1999 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.
Tad Golden blocked the potential game-winning field goal with two seconds left. The last time a Vol blocked a field goal was Deon Grant in 1998 against Arkansas. The Vols have blocked three kicks in the last two games. They had two punt blocks against Louisiana-Monroe.
Alex Walls went 3-for-3 on field goals, marking the third time in his career he made three in a game. (South Carolina-1999 3-for-3; Florida-2000 5-for-5). His 47-yard field goal in the first quarter was a season-long surpassing the 42-yarder against Florida. He was 2-for-2 outside 40 yards with a 47 and 46 yarder. Walls is now 6-for-8 in his career outside 40 yards and 11-for-12 inside 40.
With three field goals, Walls remained a perfect 9-for-9 on the season and went to 17-of-20 overall in his career. He has made 11 consecutive field goals. The school record is 18 set by Fuad Reveiz in 1984.
The 24 points yielded in the first half was more than the 10 total points given up in the first half of the first three games this season. The Vols had outscored the opposition 78-10 in the first half in the first three games.
The last time Tennessee allowed a 100-yard rusher was to Nebraska's Dan Alexander (108 yards) in the 2000 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.
The last time UT had a 300-yard passer was Tee Martin in a 28-24 loss to Arkansas in 1999 (311 yards) .
The 59 pass attempts by A.J. Suggs are third on UT's all-time list. The record is 65 held by Peyton Manning against Florida in 1996. His 37 completions tied the school record set by Peyton Manning in 1996 against Florida.
David Martin set career-highs for receptions with 12 and yards with 73. He bettered his previous best of four catches set against Vanderbilt in 1999 and 43 yards set versus Alabama in 1999. The 12 receptions are the most since Joey Kent had 13 against Arkansas in 1995. He ties Alvin Harper's second-place mark of 12 set against Washington State in 1988. The school record for catches is 13 held jointly by Joey Kent against Arkansas in 1995 and Carl Pickens versus Notre Dame in 1990.
Will Bartholomew scored his first career touchdown on a 16-yard pass reception in the fourth quarter.
The 7-yard touchdown reception by tight end John Finlayson was the second of his career. His first came against Houston in 1998.
The 49-yard reception by Donte' Stallworth was the third longest pass play of the season. (Parker 68 vs. Louisiana-Monroe, Stallworth 51 vs. Southern Mississippi). All three were from A.J. Suggs.
