Rowing Team Competes in Georgia

The Tennessee Lady Vol rowing team traveled to Gainesville, Ga., to compete at the 1999 Head of the Chattahoochee regatta on Sat., Nov. 6., at Clark's Bridge Park (the 1996 Olympic Rowing Venue) on the Chattahoochee River.
Head coach Lisa Glenn fielded boats in six events including the Championship 8+, Club 8+, College/Club Novice 8+, Championship 4+, Club 4+ and Open 2-.
Commenting on the day's competition, Glenn said, "Overall, our boats had a significant test. The level of competition was raised this year and we did well against some established teams."
The Championship 8+ finished well in a field of 21, taking 6th place with a clocking of 19:46.40. The boat was coxed by Shannon McMahon and rowed by Grace Harrington, Lauren Kueck, Kacey Montgomery, Erin Moore, Ashley Evans, Kelly Hohenbrink, Michele Moore and Megan Reinhart.
UT finished in second place in the Club 8+ (20:15.10) and was coxed by Tina Mazzolini. Ginny Bradley, Kristen Logan, Joyce Kranzke, Kim Walsh, Dawn Ware, Nicole Small, Debbie Zmistowski and Tammy Horton provided the thrust in the silver medal winning effort.
The Lady Vols crossed the buoys in 13th and 20th places in the Championship 4+ with times of 21:56.90 and 23:07.80, respectively. Tennessee also claimed 4th and 6th places in the Club 4+, clocking in with times of 22:53.80 and 22:57.70, respectively.
Brandi Bohleber coxed her shell to a 4th place finish in the Club 4+ (22:53.00) and the Club Four coxed by Tina Mazzolini took 6th (22:57.70).
In the Open 2-, the Orange and White earned silver, crossing the line with a time of 23:50.80. Lauren Kueck and Tammy Horton claimed the silver medal, beating out the third place team, also from Tennessee, by 17 seconds.
The College/Club Novice 8+ competition netted 8th and 9th place finishes for UT with times of 22:18.00 and 22:18.90, respectively.
Next, Tennessee will compete at the 1999 Chattahoochee Chase on Sun., Nov. 7.
