Vols Shutout Vanderbilt, Clinch SEC East

Tennessee scored in every quarter to take a 41-0 victory over homestanding Vanderbilt and win the SEC East outright in front a predominantly pro-Tennessee crowd at Vanderbilt Stadium.

The Vols jumped to a 20-0 halftime lead and never looked back in moving to 11-0 on the season, 8-0 in the SEC.

Tee Martin threw a 67-yard pass to Peerless Price and scored one TD on a 1-yard run. Travis Henry scored twice on runs of 12 and 1 yards. Travis Stephens added a 1-yard TD run.

On a day the Vols had four interceptions and converted turnovers into 24 points, Chris Ramseur scored on a 12-yard fumble recovery after a solid hit by fellow linebacker Eric Westmoreland.

Jeff Hall added two field goals and four extra points.

Deon Grant, Derrick Edmonds, Dwayne Goodrich and Fred White had interceptions. Darwin Walker added a fumble recovery.

Jeff Hall is now sixth on the NCAA career scoring list with 364 points.
The Vols are 48-5 in their last 53 games and have won 19 consecutive regular-season contests.

UT leads the series with Vanderbilt 61-26-5 (30-17-4 at Nashville) and has not lost to the Commodores since 1982.
Peerless Price caught seven passes for 181 yards today, the yardage being a career-high. He now has 141 catches for his career for 2,201 yards. His 18 career touchdowns complete the trifecta of his assault on the records book—he ranks third in all categories.
Price's season marks include 55 catches (sixth in Vol annals), 823 yards (eighth) and nine scores (tied with many at second).
The Vols' last 41-point win was against Arkansas in 1996, a 55-14 count.
The Vols' last shutout was in the 1995 Southern Mississippi game by a 42-0 count.
Tennessee's last shutout over Vanderbilt was a 65-0 win on this same field in 1994.
