Martin Authors Record Aerial Display, Vols Stay Unbeaten

On a record-setting day for Vol quarterback Tee Martin, Tennessee jumped out to a 21-0 halftime lead and coasted from there to a 49-14 victory. Martin completed 23 of 24 passes for 315 yards and four touchdowns.
Martin's TD passes went to Jeremaine Copeland and Cedrick Wilson and twice to Peerless Price.
Shawn Bryson, Phillip Crosby and Travis Henry had rushing touchdowns, as the Vol offense was clicking on all cylinders in an impressive performance.
Martin tied the SEC record for consecutive completions with a toss to Copeland in the third quarter and another pass to Jeremaine tied the NCAA mark. The NCAA record fell on a 10-yard grab by Price.
Defensively, senior co-captain Al Wilson had eight tackles, caused one fumble and recovered another. The Vols led 42-0 before two late Gamecock scores.

- He also broke the SEC record for season and single-game marks.
- Tennessee also set an NCAA completion percentage mark with its 24 for 25 passing day (96.0 percent).Â
- Tennessee now leads the series 13-2-2 all-time, 4-2-2 at Columbia including wins in each of the last three.
- Jeremaine Copeland's TD catch was his first of the season
- Cedrick Wilson's fumble recovery set up the Vols' first touchdown.
- Billy Ratliff blocked a second quarter Gamecock field goal, the first for the Vols since the 1996 Alabama game.
- Dwayne Goodrich had an interception for the Vols just before halftime.
- Deon Grant added a fumble recovery
- DeAngelo Lloyd also caused a fumble
- Ron Green had a sack (-9), while Dwayne Goodrich (-1), Dominique Stevenson (-6), Eric Westmoreland (-1), Judd Granzow (-1), Corey Terry (-2), Will Overstreet (-2) and Darwin Walker (-2) added lost yardage tackles.
