Due to inclement weather, Saturday's game has been postponed and the Vols and Terrapins will play a doubleheader on Sunday with the first game beginning at noon. The second game will begin approximately 45 minutes following the conclusion of the first game. Both general admission and reserve tickets from Saturday's contest will be redeemable for Sunday's games.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Baseball season has officially arrived as Tennessee opens its 2018 season with a three-game series against Maryland Friday through Sunday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
For the first time in four years the Vols will open the season at home as they welcome the Terps to Lindsey Nelson Stadium. All three games of the series will be streamed on SEC Network + (WatchESPN).

Following this weekend's opening series the Vols will continue their nine-game homestand to start the season as they welcome in-state foe Lipscomb on Tuesday, Feb. 20 and then host UNC Greensboro for three games starting next Friday.

Clear Bag Policy
In order to enhance safety and expedite fan entry at Tennessee athletic events, UT has implemented a clear bag policy at Lindsey Nelson Stadium and all other athletic facilities. Only one clear bag no larger than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches (gallon size) per person is permitted. Fans are also allowed a small clutch purse not exceeding 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches.
Stadium Entry
Please be aware that gates will not open until 90 minutes prior to game time as opposed to two hours like it has been in years past.
Parking
Baseball parking is located in Lots G16, GF2, GF3, GF4, and C22. (Thompson-Boling Arena and Neyland Stadium events have priority if on same days as baseball games.)
Additional parking is located on the street along Todd Helton Drive. Parking for MVP ticket holders is located in Lot GF1 and handicap parking is located in marked handicap spaces on Pat Head Summitt Drive and G16 Garage.

The 2018 Volunteers
- Tennessee returns 21 players from last season's roster, including seven position players that started double-digit games and five pitchers that made 15 or more appearances.
- The Vols welcome 15 newcomers, 14 of which are freshmen, to this year's roster.
- Top returning position players include sophomore INF Andre Lipcius (2017 SEC All-Freshman Team), sophomore UTL Pete Derkay (returning leader in batting average, walks and on-base percentage) and senior C Benito Santiago (returning leader in home runs and slugging percentage).
- Top returning pitchers include sophomore right handers Zach Linginfelter and Garrett Stallings as well as junior RHP Will Neely.
- Freshmen to watch include OF Zach Daniels, INF/RHP Brandon Trammell, INF Wyatt Stapp and pitchers Garrett Crochet and Chase Wallace.
- The Vols have the youngest team in the Power 5 conferences with 30 of their 36 players being freshmen or sophomores.
- Maryland is coming off its third NCAA Tournament appearance in four years after a third-place finish in last year's NCAA Winston-Salem Regional.
- Maryland is receiving votes in the Collegiate Baseball News and NCBWA preseason polls.
- The Terps finished fifth in the Big Ten regular season in 2017 with a 15-9 conference record.
- Maryland is also led by a first-year head coach in Rob Vaughn, who was promoted to head coach after John Szefc left to be the head coach at Virginia Tech. Vaughn spent the past five seasons as an assistant on Szefc's staff at Maryland.
- The Terps are led by junior second baseman Nick Dunn, who has earned Preseason All-America honors from Baseball America and Perfect Game.
- Senior Brodie Leftridge hails from Baltimore, Maryland, and joined the Vols as a true freshman in 2015.
- Leftridge played in 28 games as a freshman and has since cemented himself as Tennessee's starting center fielder. In 2017, he hit .184 with two doubles, a triple, one home run and a career-best 10 RBIs.
- Maryland first-year head coach Rob Vaughn was a volunteer assistant coach at Kansas State during Tennessee volunteer assistant Ross Kivett's first two seasons as a player with the Wildcats in 2011 and 2012.
- Tennessee Baseball completed the 2017 season with a 27-25 overall record, including a 7-21 mark in Southeastern Conference play.
- VFL Jordan Rodgers was named a 2017 First Team All-Southeastern Conference third baseman and also earned a spot on the 2017 ABCA/Rawlings Division I Gold Glove team, while Andre Lipcius was also recognized as a Freshman All-SEC first baseman and CBN Freshman All-American
- It was the first time, Tennessee had two players recognized for postseason All-SEC since 2014, when VFLs Christin Stewart (First Team) and Nick Senzel (Freshman) were also named to the same respective All-SEC lists.
- Garrett Stallings' 1.67 walks per nine innings in 2017 ranked seventh in the Tennessee record books.
- Zach Linginfelter tied two Tennessee pitching records in 2017. The Sevierville native threw the fifth-most strikeouts (61) and collected the fourth-most saves (3) by a freshman.
- Benito Santiago became the first Vol since Jeff Moberg in 2016 to hit four singles in a game when he did so against Cincinnati (3/11/17).
- With a three-double performance vs. UC Irvine (2/25/17), Justin Ammons became the first player to accomplish the feat since VFL Matt Duffy did so at Georgia on May 8, 2010.
- Tennessee outlasted Texas A&M in the second-longest game in UT history, a 4:55 battle, to win, 5-3, in 14 innings at Blue Bell Park. The longest game was played in 2014 vs. Morehead State (3/14/14) and lasted 4:57.
- Former Vol Eric Freeman earned his fourth-consecutive SEC Community Service Team nomination in 2017 and came on the heels of Freeman's 2016-17 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Baseball Team selection.
